Date Joined Hood: 27 March 1940
Biographical Information: John was born on 23 August 1918 in Islington to parents John and Emily Thurogood. The family later settled in Finsbury Park, London.

John trained at H.M.S. Royal Arthur from 04 October to 08 November 1939. He was subsequently posted to H.M.S. Pembroke from 09 November to 20 March 1940. Following a week at H.M.S. Victory, he was posted to H.M.S. Hood on 27 March 1940. He joined Hood as an Acting Cook but was promoted to Cook on 04 May 1940.

John was 22 years old at the time of his loss. We have no additional information.
