Biographical Information: Arnold was born on 08 October 1908 in Kingston, Surrey to Edward and Alice (known as May) Taylor. Arnold was one of six children (3 boys and 3 girls). The family later lived in Westerham, Kent.

Arnold was a fruit farmer  at Little Frith Farm, Doddington, Kent in the 1930s. He was hospitalised (possibly for the measles) just prior to Hood's final mission. He was 32 years old at the time of his loss. We have no additional information.
