Biographical Information: "Bernie", as he was known, was born on 18 January 1925 to Thomas and Minnie Sammars, of Ringwood, Hampshire. He was the second eldest of seven children. H.M.S. Hood was his first ship.

Bernie was 16 years old at the time of his loss. He was the youngest crewmember lost in the sinking. We have no additional information.
