Biographical Information: "Aunty" as he was nicknamed, was born on 19 July 1918 in New South Wales, Australia. He was the only son of William and Annie Nicholl. The family later lived in Warley, Halifax. Yorkshire.
He was educated as a boarder at Crossley and Porter Orphange School in Halifax . He was a gifted sportsman who played cricket for King Cross Club and played rugby for 'Old Crossleyans' where he showed great prowess. His obituary in the Old Crossleyan says 'he saved many a bad situation'. and described him as modest, self-confident and self-reliant with a rare depth of character.
At school he was an above average scholar who at age 21 became a Chartered Secretary and held the intermediate Bachelor of Commerce Degree.The final part would have been taken in July 1941.
He was 22 years old at the time of his loss. We have no additional information.
