Biographical Information: William was the son of William and Laura Gallant of Stephenville, Newfoundland. He was a member of the Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit (NOFU No. 0447) and was later transferred to the Royal Navy. Hood is believed to have been his only ship. He was a first cousin of Joseph Gallant and second cousin of Samuel Gaudet both of whom were also lost in the sinking. We have no additional information.
