Biographical Information: Clifford was one of four children to Joseph and Hilda Farrar, of Batley, Yorkshire. As a lad, he attended Carlinghow Council School. He was an active member of the Carlinghow St Johns Church Choir. Following school, Clifford was employed by Messrs T Burnley and Sons, Ltd, Gomersal as well as Angora (Birstall) Ltd.

Clifford joined the Marines sometime in 1938. Upon completion of his training at Chatham and Portsmouth, he was posted to Hood. He was among the 250 crewman sent to Aandalenes, Norway in support of Operation Primrose during April 1940. He was 21 years old.
