GB2HA Special Event Station for H.M.S. Hood
Updated 12-Aug-2006

This is an annual event for licensed radio amateurs around the world. Like this website, it too is an official function of the H.M.S. Hood Association. It is managed by Malcolm Butler, a long time friend of H.M.S. Hood Association Treasurer and former crew member, Ken "Nobby" Clark and family.

The first GB2HA H.M.S. Hood Special Event station was held in 1995 and has proven to be a popular annual event, boasting participation from many licensed amateur radio operators from around the world. They generally call-in to discuss their memories of the Mighty Hood.

We didn't receive any information on the 2004 event. We do know that the previous year (2003) went quite well: It was one of the busiest years yet, with over 200 contacts from around the world (though contacts were heaviest throughout Europe).

The next GB2HA Special Event Station for the H.M.S. Hood Association will be from 04-12 November 2006, on frequencies 40, 20, and 2 mtrs from 1000 to 2600 GMT daily. The 2006 event will be dedicated to the late Gladys Clark, wife of Association Treasurer Ken "Nobby" Clark, and a wonderful lady whom we all miss greatly.
