The dinner begain at 1900 hours in the Nelson room. The room was decorated with fewer photos than in years past. Despite this, an excellent number of various photos of Hood and crew was displayed. This also included photos of over 800 men lost in the sinking of the ship. The memorial photos and Roll of Honour as always, occupied a special area of the room and were the most important element of the photo display.

There were approximately 55 people of various connections and interests in Hood attended the dinner. Most attendees were from the UK, but some came from more distant reaches of the globe such as Sweden, Iceland and the USA. Our Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Derick Collins. In addition to our rank and file, our President, Rear-Admiral Philip Wilcocks, C.B., D.S.C., was in attendance. We were also once again joined by some of our very good friends of the Battle Cruiser Hood, South east London Memorial Group.

We were honoured to have the following veterans of Hood with us: Commander Keith Evans, Alec Kellaway and this year's guest of honour, Lloyd Adams. Lloyd is a recent member of the Association who served in Hood in 1940-1941. Following his introduction by Chairman Peter Heys, Lloyd gave a delightful speech covering his time aboard Hood during the months before her loss. Following the speech, Lloyd was presented with a lovely framed drawing of Hood.

This year's dinner menu consisted of Brussels paté and bread followed by stuffed baked chicken breast wrapped with bacon and served with roast potatoes and seasonable egetables. Desert was hot apple pie and cherry crumble served with custard. Cheese and biscuits were served, followed by coffee and mints. Another excellent spread by the staff of the Royal Maritime Club.

After dinner, port was served and toasts were made to The Queen, our Guest of Honour, the ladies and of course, absent friends. This was followed by the introduction of the Guest of Honour. Things were wrapped up with a wonderfully successful raffle run by John and Marilyn Oakley. The results were quite good and we are very grateful to all who contributed. The rest of the evening consisted of people chatting and having nightcaps until the room closed.

Members gathered outside the Royal Maritime Club around 1130 and after some delays ultimately made their way to St George's Church led by the band of TS Tenacity. The weather was spectacularly perfect. The service commenced around noon and was led by Association chaplain the Venerable John Green, C.B. He was assisted by St George's vicar Canon Karina Green. Piano accompanyment was once again provided by Miss Tracey Dean.

As always, the chaplain led a most entertaining and enlightening service. The ocassion was also sad in that this was Canon Green's last service wth us as she is being reassigned to a new parish. We appreciate all she has done. Following the service, everyone gathered outside the church for photos and the walk back to the Royal Maritime Club.
